Our 2nd Ihtifal and Year End Concert

We have come to the end of the year, time flies so fast, Subhanallah! To honour the group of Class 2011, our 2nd batch of graduates, a momentous occasion was held last Saturday, 22 October 2011 at Dewan Kompleks Kejiranan Presint 9, Putrajaya.

This group of graduates will always be remembered in a special way. Looking back 2 years ago, they started with hesitant tentative little steps with cloud of anxiety all over their little faces. Alhamdulillah, over the years, they gathered the courage to brave through the doors to play, sing, build, paint, draw, colour, read, write and learn. Through the power of play, these amazing kids have grown socially, emotionally, academically and spiritually, Masha Allah!

Class of Na'im & Ma'wa
Class of Khuldi
Congratulations Little Khalifah, we are so proud of you!

The Last 10 days of Ramadhan

We are close to the end of Ramadhan. Subhanallah, how time flies. In teaching the children about the holy month of Ramadhan, almost all learning activities have been tailored to and integrated with Ramadhan theme. We read about Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and the sirah about the night when Al-Quran was sent down; we did our practical solat sunat Terawih; we also hafaz Surah Al-Qadr; and at the same time learned about figures related to Surah Al-Qadr.

Now, let's do some counting here:

1. How many words are there in Surah Al-Qadr?
Answer: 30 words, which is equivalent to 30 juzu' in the Quran.

2. How many letters are there in Surah Al-Qadr?
Answer: 114 letters, which is equivalent to 114 surahs in the Quran.

3.How many letters are there in the word
?
Answer: 9 letters.

4.How many times the word
is repeated in the surah?
Answer: 3 times. If we add up all the letters 9+9+9 is equals to 27.

The Night of Power is better than a thousand months. Surah Al-Qadr, verse 3.
Let's put our worldly affairs aside and really make the most of this month. Let's seek Allah's Forgiveness and His Mercy and InsyaAllah we will be far removed from the torment of the Hellfire.
Oh Allah! You are the Most Forgiving and Most Gracious. You love to forgive, so please forgive me. Amin.

Parent Tips for Creating Lifelong Readers

I have a passion for teaching kids to become readers, to become comfortable with a book, not daunted. Books shouldn't be daunting, they should be funny, exciting and wonderful; and learning to be a reader gives a terrific advantage. - Roald Dahl
Here at Tadika Alif Ceria, our children are given freedom to choose their favourite magazines to read during recess time. Although it is only for less than 10 minutes a day, the progress is overwhelming, MasyaAllah. We noted improvement in their reading speed, comprehension, speech and self confidence.

Let's start with something interesting for the kids to read, shall we parents? Here are more tips and ideas on how to promote and foster a love for reading:
  1. Read to your child every night
  2. Take turns with other adults to read aloud
  3. Create a library of books in each child’s bedroom
  4. Tell stories to your children
  5. Get your children to tell you stories
  6. Ask other family members to recall stories of family incidents
  7. Share and discuss articles from newspapers and magazines
  8. Read road signs and billboards out loud
  9. Play ‘I spy’ in the car
  10. Listen to audio tapes in the car
  11. Read a recipe together as you cook
  12. Read the movie advertisement together
  13. Write shopping lists together
  14. Organise a library membership for each child
  15. Take advantage of Library School Holiday Programme and Special Events
  16. Encourage children to read the backs of cereal/food packages
  17. Enter competition on the back of cereal/food packages
  18. Share favourite stories over and over
  19. Invent a new ending for a favourite book
  20. Talk books – ask children’s friends about their favourite books
  21. Arrange magazines subscription for each child
  22. Encourage your children to write letters
  23. Get your children to have membership of his/her favourite book store
And last but not least,
If you can read this, thank a teacher. - Anoynomus.
Have a wonderful, blessed day everyone. Happy reading! ;-)

Look what we did today: Gardening!

July is the healthy, green vegetables month. We learned that:
  1. There are many kind of vegetables.
  2. Vegetables come in many shapes, sizes and colours.
  3. We can buy fresh, canned or frozen vegetables.
  4. Vegetables have different names.
  5. Vegetables can be eaten raw or cooked.
  6. Vegetable is good for our body.
  7. Vegetables need water and sunlight to grow.
And it's time to grow our own vegetables!

We are ready teachers!
First, put in the soil...
 Is this enough teacher?
Using the garden spade to smoothen and level the soil.
Red chili seeds
Sowing the seeds into the soil
More seeds
Spraying water to dampen the soil
Oppss! Look where the water is pouring!!
Has it grown yet?
The pak choy (sawi) after 1 week..

More updates coming soon..

2nd Parents Meet 2011

Alhamdulillah, parents and teachers of Tadika Alif Ceria gathered again for the 2nd Parents Meet this year which was held on Saturday 16 July 2011. The parents were briefed on their children's progress based on the evaluation instruments prepared, guided by the Ministry of Education's standard instruments. The instruments marked levels of a child's achievement in all aspects namely reading and writing abilities, cognitive skills, communication skills, socio and emotional development, physical development, Islamic knowledge and overall akhlaq and values.

Parents were also presented with reading certificates for their children who have successfully completed the Bacalah Anakku and Read Easy series.

Proud parents of Muqri (5 years old) with their son's Bacalah Anakku certificate.

1)    Muqri's mom, Puan Suhaila Sulaiman wrote in her testimonial form: "Muqri has shown excellent progress in his ability to communicate his thoughts and to interact well with people around him. His reading skill has also improved greatly. I am also happy with the Islamic approach implemented that has shown a good and positive impact in Muqri’s daily activities. Thank you to all the teachers at Tadika Alif Ceria."

Alhamdulillah, thank you for all the kind words and let's pray to Allah for His blessing and opportunities for us to work harder in giving the best to the children, InsyaAllah.

More testimonials from the parents can be read here

We can recite Surah Taha verses 1 to 5, Alhamdulillah!

Surah Taha is known to cool down anger and soften the heart. It was the surah that Saidina Umar (r.a), while in the state of anger, had listened to, before he embraced Islam.

The children are taught to memorize verses 1 to 5 of the surah and MasyaAllah, it did not take long for them to be able to recite the verses. Listen to the beautiful little voices reciting Surah Taha verse 1 to 5.

Look what we did today: Making fruit juices!

Fruits and Vegetables Are Good for Me!
(Tune: Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star)

Apples, pears, and oranges,
Fruits are sweet for me and you.
Carrots, peas, and broccoli,
Vegetables are good for me.
Fruits and vegetables
are good for you.
They keep you healthy
and are yummy too! (Rub bellies)

June is all about FRUITS and we love it because we got to learn and taste many different types of fruits - local fruits, fruits from other countries, fruits with few seeds, fruits with many seeds, seedless fruits, small fruits, big fruits, sweet fruits, sour fruits and many more!

We even got to make our own fruit juices.

Teacher Liz's 10 years old wedding present has finally been put to a good use... :-)

Freshly cut green apples and oranges
Taking turns to squish the fruits
Apple juice
Let's try the fiber.
Wow banyaknya...
Yummy.. alhamdulillah..
